Interesante artículo de Paul OB para el uso y aplicación práctica de la propiedad z-index en elementos del CSS.

The CSS z-index property is a mechanism for defining the stacking level of positioned elements within a document. It allows elements to be moved above or below other elements on a page along an imaginary line that extends from inside the monitor towards the viewer.
